GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM

 

GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM - WHAT THIS STREAM LETS YOU DO.

 

The Government Agency Stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa stream allows a person to work in Australia under the terms and conditions of a bilateral agreement between the Australian Government and a government of another country. You can stay in Australia for up to 2 years and the cost is $310. This visa lets you travel to and from Australia as many times as you like.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM

 

To be eligible for the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM, you will need to:

  • Be engaged under the terms and conditions of a bilateral agreement between Australia or an Australian state or territory government and another country. You must provide a letter of support stating that you are engaged under a bilateral agreement between Australia, or an Australian state or territory government, and another country. The letter must identify you and any family members coming to Australia with you, and state:

    • what work you will be doing

    • that you meet the terms and conditions of the agreement

    • that your stay in Australia has the support of both the Australian signatory and the other signatory, and that the other signatory has been consulted

    • that the Australian signatory confirms you will be employed or engaged in line with Australian labour laws and practices (unless that requirement is stated in the agreement)

    • how long it is proposed you stay

    • that the Australian signatory agrees to your stay in Australia for the proposed period of time and purpose  

  • Have the support of both signatories of the bilateral agreement that you are in Australia to work under.

  • Intend to meet the terms and conditions of the agreement including following any licensing or registration requirements as part of your employment.

  • Be able to support yourself and any dependents while in Australia.

  • If you are applying in Australia, you must hold, or in the last 28 days have held, a temporary substantive visa. The temporary substantive visa you hold or held can't have been:

    • a Temporary Work (International Relations) (subclass 403) visa  in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular) stream

    • a Transit visa (subclass 771), or

    • a Special Purpose visa

  • Meet the health requirements.

  • Meet the character requirements.

  • Have adequate health insurance

  • Meet the genuine temporary stay requirement.

  • Have no outstanding debts to the Australian government.

 

FOREIGN GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM

 

 

FOREIGN GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM - WHAT THIS STREAM LETS YOU DO.

 

The Foreign Government Agency Stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa stream lets you come to Australia for specific activities. You could work in Australia employed by a foreign government as a foreign language teacher or as a representative of a foreign government agency. You can stay in Australia for up to 4 years, and the cost is $310.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE FOREIGN GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM

 

To be eligible for the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 FOREIGN GOVERNMENT AGENCY STREAM, you will need to:

  • Have a letter of support from the foreign government agency, ministry or mission or international organisation. If you are a foreign language teacher, you must also have a letter of support form an Australian school, or tertiary authority.

  • Be able to support yourself and your dependents.

  • Work as a foreign government agency representative who will not be given official status in Australia by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), or a foreign language teacher who will be employed by a foreign government in an Australian school. Your employment in Australia should benefit Australia. Your work should not disadvantage Australian residents and will contribute to one of the following:

    • expansion of local business and export activity

    • generation of employment

    • promotion and maintenance of good international trade relations

    • introduction and transfer of new skills and technology

    • improved employment and training opportunities for Australians

  • If you are applying in Australia, you must hold, or in the last 28 days have held, a temporary substantive visa. The temporary substantive visa you hold or held can't have been:

    • a Temporary Work (International Relations) (subclass 403) visa  in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular) stream

    • a Transit visa (subclass 771), or

    • a Special Purpose visa

  • Meet the health requirements.

  • Meet the character requirements.

  • Meet the genuine temporary stay requirement.

DOMESTIC WORKER (DIPLOMATIC OR CONSULAR)

 

DOMESTIC WORKER STREAM - WHAT THIS STREAM LETS YOU DO.

 

The Domestic Worker Stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa stream lets a person over 18 years of age to do temporary full time work in Australia in the household of someone who holds a Diplomatic (Temporary) Visa Subclass 995. This visa is usually for 12 months whereby a further stay up to the length of your employer's posting to Australia is valid. You can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want and be in or outside Australia when you apply.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE DOMESTIC WORKER STREAM

 

To be eligible for the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 DOMESTIC WORKER STREAM, you will need to:

  • Be 18 years or older.

  • Have the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

  • Have an employment contract that meets Australian workplace laws and practices.

  • Be able to financially support yourself.

  • Have an in person interview with the the Department of Home Affairs If applying from Australia.

  • Work as a full time domestic worker in the household of a person who holds a Diplomatic (Temporary) Visa Subclass 995.

  • If applying from Australia, you must already hold a Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular Stream).

  • Meet the health requirements.

  • Meet the character requirements.

  • Meet the health insurance requirements.

  • Meet the genuine temporary stay requirement.

  • Not have any outstanding debts to the Australian Government.

  • Not have had a previous visa cancelled or refused.

PRIVILEGES & IMMUNITY STREAM

 

PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITY STREAM- WHAT THIS STREAM LETS YOU DO.

 

The Privileges and Immunity Stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa lets you come to Australia if you have, or expect to have, privileges and immunities under relevant legislation. You can stay in Australia on this visa while you are working as an international representative. This visa lets you stay in Australia as specified in the letter issued to you by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the visa application is free.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITY STREAM

 

To be eligible for the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 PRIVILEGES & IMMUNITY STREAM, you will need to:

  • Have or reasonably be expected to have privileges and immunities listed under the International Organisations (Privileges and Immunities) Act 1963 or the Overseas Missions (Privileges and Immunities) Act 1995.

  • Have a letter of support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Australia.

  • Be able to support yourself and dependents.

  • Work in a position that has privileges and immunities as listed under the relevant legislation for the employer you were granted to work for for the job specified in your visa application.

  • If applying from Australia, you must already hold a Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular Stream).

SEASONAL WORKER PROGRAM STREAM

The Seasonal Worker Program Stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa lets you come to Australia temporarily to participate in the Seasonal Worker Program to work as a seasonal labourer in selected industries for Australian employers who can't source local labour

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE SEASONAL WORKER PROGRAM STREAM

 

To be eligible for the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 SEASONAL WORKER PROGRAM STREAM, you will need to:

  • Be a citizen of AND resident of the following countries: Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor - Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, or Vanuatu.

  • Be invited under the seasonal worker program.

  • Be able to support yourself.

  • Have an approved temporary activities  sponsor.

  • Be at least 21 years old.

  • Meet the character requirements.

  • Meet the health insurance requirements.

  • Meet the genuine temporary stay requirement.

  • Not have any outstanding debts to the Australian Government.

  • Not have had a previous visa cancelled or refused.

PACIFIC LABOUR SCHEME STREAM

The Pacific Labour Scheme Stream of the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 visa lets you come to Australia temporarily for up to 3 years to work in activities for a Temporary Activities Approved Sponsor in Rural and Regional Australia.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE PACIFIC LABOUR SCHEME STREAM

 

To be eligible for the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa Subclass 403 PACIFIC LABOUR SCHEME STREAM, you will need to:

  • Be a citizen of AND resident of the following countries: Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor - Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, or Vanuatu.

  • Be aged between 21 - 45.

  • Be endorsed by DFAT

  • Have an approved Temporary Activities Sponsor

  • Meet the character requirements.
