The Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445) allows a child to stay in Australia temporarily while the Department processes their parent's permanent Partner visa application. Cost of this visa is currently $2470.00AUD.

 

DEPENDENT CHILD VISA (SUBCLASS 445)

 

The Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445) allows a child move to or stay in Australia until the Department makes a decision on the parent's permanent partner visa application. It allows the dependent child to travel to and from Australia as well as work and study in Australia as well as enroll in medicare.

To be eligible for this visa, you will need to be:

  • A dependent child of a parent who has applied for permanent residency via a Subclass 309 or Subclass 820 visa.

  • Be sponsored by the nominator or the sponsor of the visa holding parent.

  • Be the biological child, step child or adopted child of the parent.

  • Able to meet health and character tests.

  • Younger than 18 or be able to demonstrate financial or physical dependence on the parent.

The Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445) can only be granted if the application can show that the child (under 18 years of age) can demonstrate that they have written consent of both parents who can legally decide where the child lives, that the laws of the home country permit the removal of the child and that the application is consistent with Australian laws. The Department can refuse this visa if they feel it is not in the best interests of a child under 18.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The dependent child can himself/herself include their own dependent children in their application. It must also be known that all outstanding debts to the Australian government will need to be paid and the child will need to provide biometrics.

This visa is suitable for for biological, adopted or step children of parents who hold the subclass 309 or 820 visas.
