The Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887) is a permanent visa that allows people who have lived and worked in specified areas of regional Australia while holding a previous eligible visa to apply for permanent residency.

The Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887) currently costs $385AUD for the main applicant and additional fees for each family member. WHAT THIS VISA LETS YOU DO
The Employer Nominated Visa (Subclass 186) is a permanent visa that lets you stay in Australia indefinitely. You can work and study in Australia, enroll in Medicare, and apply for Australian citizenship if eligible. This visa enables you to travel as many times as you like to and from Australia for 5 years. After this time you will either need Australian citizenship or to apply for a Resident Return Visa. You can include family members in your application however they need to pass all health and character tests.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS VISA
To be eligible for the Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887) visa you will need to demonstrate that you:
Meet the residency requirements, by having lived for a total of at least 2 years in a place of Australia that is a regional / low population growth metropolitan area if you were nominated by a state or territory government. Alternatively you will need to have lived for at least 2 years in a designated area of Australia if you were sponsored by a family member.
Meet the visa eligibility requirements by holding one or more of the following visas for a total of at least 2 years including: Subclas 489, 495, 496, 475, 487 or Bridging Visa A or B after having made a valid application for the Subclass 489, 495 or 487 visas.
Meet the work requirements by having worked full time (at least 35 hours per week or combined work in concurrent part time employment within your nominated occupation or any other occupation) in a regional or low population growth metropolitan area (if nominated by state or territory government) or alternatively a designated area (if nominated by family).
Have complied with the conditions of your current visa.
Meet all necessary health requirements.
Meet all character requirements.
Sign the Australian values statement.
Have paid back debts to the Australian government.
Not had a previous visa cancelled or refused.
